TAV – the 22nd Hebrew letter

The Hebrew letter  ת  Tav , spelled out in Hebrew תָו is the twenty-second , and last, letter in the Hebrew alphabet.

Each Hebrew letter has a numerical value, or gematria.  The gematria of  ת is 400, signifying perfection.

Each Hebrew letter also has a concept.  ת signifies truth.

ANNOUNCEMENT – 2/9/13

The Hebrew Club will break for one week.  There is no meeting on Thursday, February 14.

We will meet again on Thursday, February 21 when Pat Power, ASU Professor will continue her exciting class, ‘Hidden in the Hebrew’.

The Hebrew Club is grateful to have Pat join us every other week; each class is $8.00 payable directly to Pat. The atmosphere is open, interactive and fun!

SHIN – the 21st Hebrew letter

The Hebrew letter  שׁ Shin, spelled out in Hebrew שִׁין is the twenty-first letter in the Hebrew alphabet.  The sound varies based on placement of the  dot above the letter. 

When the dot is placed on the third ‘crown’ as above, the letter has an ‘sh’ sound as in shoe.  When the dot is placed on the first crown שׂ the sound is a soft ‘s’ as in the word sour.

Each Hebrew letter has a numerical value, or gematria.  The gematria of  שׁ is 300.

Each Hebrew letter also has a concept.  שׁ represents Divine Power as it is the initial letter of two of the names of God.

KUF – the 19th Hebrew letter

TZADE – the 18th Hebrew letter

The Hebrew letter צ Tzade, or spelled out in Hebrew צָדִי is the eighteenth letter in the Hebrew alphabet and also has two forms: צ Tzade and final Tzade, ץ, or Tzade Soffit.

PEH – the 17th Hebrew letter

The Hebrew letter פ Peh, or spelled out in Hebrew פֵּא is the seventeenth letter in the Hebrew alphabet and is one of the Hebrew letters which also has a second form called final Peh, פ or Fey Soffit ף.  When there is a dagesh (dot) in the middle of the non-final Peh פ, it is a ‘p’ sound; without the dagesh, it makes an ‘f’ sound – Feh. 

Each Hebrew letter has a numerical value, or gematria.  The gematria of  פ is 80.

Each Hebrew letter also has a concept.  פ signifies the Oral Law.
